Students at Marist College Emerald undertake a timetable constructed of Core and Rotational subjects in Year 7 and Year 8. When students transition from Year 8 into Year 9 and 10 they continue to undertake six core subjects as well as being given the opportunity to choose Elective subjects.
Core subjects: Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Science, HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences) and HPE (Health and Physical Education).
Elective Subjects vary, please refer to the most recent Junior Curriculum Handbook for elective subject offerings.
During Year 10, students begin preparing to enter the Senior Phase of Learning, they will be invited to complete a Senior Education and Training Plan (SETP). The SETP process consists of a twenty-minute discussion with one of our experienced Heads of Department, who will help you and your child complete an individualised plan for their transition into Senior. It is not only an opportunity to have the SET Plan completed but to also have questions answered about subject selections for Years 11 and 12.
Detailed information about all subjects offered in Year 9 and Year 10 can be found in the Junior Curriculum Handbook.
