Inclusive Practices Department
If a student undergoes academic difficulties, the Inclusive Practices Head of Department, supported by experienced learning support aides, can offer support by in-class or out-of-class assistance, scaffolded assessment tasks and exam/assignment strategies. This is a particular focus in the junior years of schooling, and, depending on the individual student’s diagnosis, may progress into continued support in the senior years. Students at the College may be ascertained by a process accredited by Rockhampton Catholic Education Office.
Assessment tasks may be modified for some students or they will be offered extra assistance for example the reading of exam papers or scaffolded tasks
Students who need support will be kept on a confidential data base with strategies to assist and monitor progress
Teachers in each subject will be informed and assisted in how to best meet individual student’s needs
Class programmes are developed which include strategies for helping identify and support students
