Sporting Program
Marist College Emerald offers a variety of sports and enters various sporting competitions throughout the year.
Students are offered the opportunity to nominate for representation in teams at the school and Central Highlands’ level. Marist College regularly has students who compete at the Capricornia regional, State and occasionally Australian levels of competition. Our particular sporting strengths are in the areas of Netball, Touch Football, Rugby Union and Rugby League.
Sports that students are invited to participate in include:
- Track and Field
- Basketball
- Cross Country
- Volleyball
- Tennis
- Rugby Union
- Aussie Rules (AFL)
- Football
- Netball
- Swimming
- Water Polo
- Cricket
In addition, as a college we field teams in state run competitions, generally competing to a high standard, despite the size of our school population.
Annually we attend:
- The Confraternity Rugby League competition in late June
- The Queensland Independent Schools Netball competition in late June
- The North Queensland All Schools Touch competition in Term 3
- The Ballymore Cup competition in April
- Western 7’s competition in Term 4
- The Rockhampton District Secondary Schools Rugby Union competition in Term 1
- The Junior Rugby League Academy tour in Term 4
