The Marist College Emerald Co-Curricular Music program provides students with an opportunity to develop their understanding and enjoyment of music through a performance based music education program. Participation in the program is open to students of all ability levels from beginners to students with advanced skills on their instrument. The program provides skill and technical development sessions which are available on the following instruments:

- Bassoon
- Clarinet
- Bass Clarinet
- Alto Saxophone
- Tenor Saxophone
- Baritone Saxophone
- Trumpet
- French Horn
- Trombone
- Euphonium
- Tuba
- Bass Guitar
- Percussion
Students with the ability to play guitar or piano also welcome to participate in one of the Colleges jazz ensembles.
The program also provides a range of ensembles that include:
- Junior Concert Band
- Wind Symphony
- Junior Stage Band
- Senior Stage Band
- Choir
- Vocal ensemble
- Music for Mass and Liturgy
The College also runs other ensembles based on students interest including:
- Brass Ensemble
- Woodwind Ensemble
- Percussion Ensemble
- Rock Band
- Jazz Combo
The bands perform regularly at community and College functions which include:
- ANZAC Day Parade and Service
- St. Patrick’s Parish Fair
- St. Luke’s Anglican Church Fair
- Carols by Candlelight
- Queensland Catholic Schools Music Festival
- College Functions
Other opportunities available to students participating in the Instrumental Music Program include:
- The Rockhampton Diocese Music Camp
- The Central Highlands Eisteddfod
- Griffith Conservatorium State Honour Ensemble Program
